Here
are some frequently asked questions.
What formats do
you shoot?
I shoot both digital images and traditional film. The digital images are professional
SLR high-resolution (6.3mp) colour images. With film, I shoot both 35mm and
120 medium format images in either black & white or colour. Ask to see
my portfolio and we can discuss which format will suit your needs.
How long does a
photo shoot take?
I like the photo shoot to be a relaxed, pleasurable experience for the model.
For most people I set aside about two hours. This gives you plenty of time
to discuss the types of images you would like, have the professional lighting
set up appropriately and really enjoy the experience of having your picture
taken. Later you'll need to put aside about half an hour to select your favourite
images for printing or downloading.
“ I just
want a few shots for my online profile”
No problem! This need only take about an hour to have the shots done. Selected
images can then be resized and downloaded as digital JPEG files so you can
email them to friends or post them on a website. They can be sent to your email
address or provided on CD. The same applies for passport-style portraits for
newsletters and business cards. If prints are required, they can be ready the
next day.
What should I bring
to the shoot?
On the day of photography, bring along whatever props you'd like to have or
be wearing for the shoot. If you're having nude shots taken, remember to wear
loose clothing that does not leave band marks on your skin. It will show. You
can also bring along your favourite CDs - whatever music makes you feel good.
What if I'm not
particularly photogenic?
So you think you're not photogenic, eh? This is not a beauty contest. When
it comes to photographs of ourselves we're always our worst critic. But the
beauty of people is in being who we are. With the right lighting and composition,
I'll bring out your best, natural qualities. No need for any of this fake "glamour" stuff.
What if I have
a pimple on the day of the shoot?
Pimples, scars, rashes, wrinkles? Not a problem. I can work around all those
imperfections we become so self-conscious of in front of the camera. And I
can expertly retouch them out of the final prints so no one will ever know
they existed.
Is the shoot done
in private?
Absolutely. It is a private studio and is not shared by other photographers.
So you can relax and be yourself.
Can I have sensual
images taken?
Having your photograph taken is a sensual experience even if you're only having
a portrait done. It's about showing who you are. The degree to which you express
your sensuality is up to you. And don't worry about privacy. Discretion is
assured.
Can I be photographed
at home?
In your favourite chair, your car, at the beach. Anywhere you like. You don't
have to be photographed in my studio. Either your place or your favourite location
can be a great setting for creating pictures that say who you are.
Can I book in someone
else to be photographed?
One of my favourite shoots was given as a birthday gift to a guy by his girlfriend.
They both loved the results. If you do book someone else in, be sure that they're
cool about it first. It's pretty personal being photographed.
How much does a
photo shoot cost?
The cost of your shoot will vary depending on four main components:
- the location (my studio or your place).
- the format (digital or film).
- the number of shots you want, and
- the quantity and size of the prints you select.
